How to play backgammon with a friend in Backgammon Clubs
Short answer: add your friend in the app (by searching their username, or from your Facebook friends), open their profile and send a match invitation. When they accept, you play a private 1v1 game of standard backgammon with the full classic rules, doubling cube included. You both need the Backgammon Clubs app on iOS or Android.
Step by step
- Both of you install Backgammon Clubs. It is free to download on the App Store and Google Play, with ads and optional in-app purchases.
- Add each other as friends. Send a friend request by searching your friend's username or from their player profile. If you sign in with Facebook, the app also suggests your Facebook friends who play. Requests stay pending until the other player accepts.
- Send a match invitation. Open your friend's profile and invite them to a match. They get an in-app notification and can accept or decline.
- Play. Once your friend accepts, a private match starts between the two of you.
More ways to play with friends
- Chat: send direct messages with text and emoji, and see which friends are online from your friends list.
- Emoji during the match: react with a set of in-match emoji while you play.
- Join a club together: any club member can invite friends to their club from the Members tab. A club is a team of up to 20 players that chats and competes together. Learn about clubs.
Good to know
- Friend matches always use standard backgammon, not the quick variants (Hypergammon, Bear Off, Crazy Gammon).
- Friend matches don't award league points, so weekly leagues stay fair.
- There is no rematch button at the end of a friend match: send a new invitation to play again.
- Friends and clubs may not be available to younger players, based on the age information provided by Apple or Google.
- The demo on our homepage is a short taste of the game in your browser. To play with a friend, you both need the app.
